02/13/2012 - Pittsburgh, PA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Mike Comrie, who hasn't played in the NHL yet this season due to multiple hip surgeries, retired on Monday.

"To have made the lasting friendships I enjoy today with so many of my former teammates is something that will stay with me for the rest of my life. Its the reward that has made all the hard work, the trades, the moves and the surgeries worthwhile."

The 31-year-old last took the ice on April 10, 2011, suiting up for five regular-season games at the end of the campaign. He missed four months of action from late November until late March, and underwent a hip procedure in late December of 2010.

A University of Michigan product who was taken in the third round of the 1999 draft by Edmonton, Comrie played 10 seasons with the Oilers, Flyers, Coyotes, Senators, Islanders and Penguins.

He totaled 168 goals and 365 points with 443 penalty minutes over 589 regular- season tilts, adding four goals and 10 points in 32 playoff games.
